Research Centre :
Our research studies are carried out using both standard gemological equipment and more advanced analytical instrumentation. Methods for characterizing gem materials involve the use of microscopy, spectroscopy, chemical analysis, and imaging techniques. In support of our research program, GEM maintains an extensive collection of many different gem materials. We also have access to gem materials from sources throughout the world. Research activities take place at our facilities. On occasion, research projects are also conducted on a cooperative basis with other research institutions.  

Results of our research projects are to provide information to support the jewelry industry. These results are incorporated into GEM educational materials for the benefit of our students. In addition, GEM researchers present their research work in talks to professional and general audiences throughout.  

Facilitating Buying & Selling Of Gemstones :
In addition to this GEM has also facilitated an online exchange service for the benefit of the general public, wherein one can upload the gemstone he has, for an online sale to prospective customers, thus ensuring a better price for his possession. At the same time a person looking to purchase a gemstone can buy it from the online exchange, thus assuring him a genuine & a good purchase.
